Word Garner is a personal vocabulary notebook for iOS and Android. Share a word from whatever you are reading, and it comes back translated, explained and ready to revise — without an account, and without leaving your phone.
What it does
- Capture anywhere Share a word or a highlight from any app, or type and paste it in. Book highlights arrive cleaned of their attribution lines, and a share can be checked and trimmed before it is saved.
- Translate on the device first Apple’s own translation runs offline and costs nothing. An AI provider is optional, and only refines what the device could not say.
- More than a translation Each word gets a pronunciation, a short explanation and an example sentence, in every language you have configured.
- Revise with flashcards Read them, type the answer, or hear them aloud. The draw is weighted by what you keep getting wrong.
- Made-up quizzes Describe what you want to be quizzed on — “proverbs from the Bible” — and an engine writes the questions.
- Yours to take away Export to JSON or to an Anki deck at any time. The vocabulary backs itself up on the device as it grows.
No account, no tracking
There is no sign-up and no server holding your words. Your vocabulary is a database file on your phone. Nothing is uploaded, there is no analytics, no advertising and no third-party tracking of any kind.
The one thing that ever leaves the device is the text you asked to have translated, and only when you have chosen an AI provider and entered your own API key. You choose the provider, you hold the key, and you can remove it at any time. The full detail is in the privacy policy.
A hosted engine and hosted storage may be offered later, and those would need an account. They would be options beside the device and your own key, never a replacement for them — and the privacy policy is updated before any of it ships.
